A Step Ahead |
A quarterly talk series designed for high school students. Sessions are designed to provide each student with an event that will enhance career exposure, college prep immersion, professional development and skills to networking. These topics have been chosen for their importance in long term professional success in a post secondary environment. Our hope is that through this talk series we will help students make important college decisions while providing them with opportunities to grow as leaders and unique individuals who will be assets to the career paths of their choice.

Professionals Panel- A panel of professionals ranging from the areas of academics, medicine, law, and politics. The session will start with a structured discussion on each panelists journey to their profession followed by a Q&A session with the audience. The structured session will be followed by opportunities to network directly with the invited professionals.

Personal Statements and College Admissions- Invited representatives from college admission offices will come together to shed insight on applying to colleges and how to write your personal statement for colleges. Representatives will give a presentation on how to write a personal statement and what inforamtion to include in it. Volunteers will be available to look at your personal statements and provide feedback on how to improve them.

Life tips from a... College, Masters, and PhD student- A panel of current students currently completing their college, masters or doctarate degrees will be discussing tips for success in each level of education and how they prepared for the next steps in thier educational career.
